Q fever vaccination clinic

The occupational health nurse will be on site on Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 September for Q fever screening and vaccination. Every worker who has not been screened must attend. New starters must be screened before entering a production area. Book through your leading hand. Bring your vaccination record if you were vaccinated elsewhere.

Metal detector failure on packing line B

The hourly test wand check on packing line B failed at 9:40 am on Tuesday and product from the previous hour was held and re-run. The unit has been recalibrated. Packers are reminded that the test wand check must be done on the hour, recorded in the QA monitoring log and the line stopped immediately on any failure.

Health and safety representative elections

Nominations are open for health and safety representatives in the boning room and packing and loadout work groups. Nominations close on 24 September and voting will take place during toolbox talks in the first week of October. Representatives receive five days of approved training. Speak to the People and Safety team if you want to nominate.

Chain speed trial on the beef floor

From Monday 21 September the beef chain will run a two week trial at 118 bodies per hour, up from 112. The trial has been consulted through the health and safety committee. Station rotations and extra relief will be in place. Any worker who considers the speed unsafe at their station must use the stop cord and tell their leading hand. The trial will be reviewed on 5 October.

Compliance

Export regulator verification visit

The department's audit team will conduct a scheduled verification of the Approved Arrangement from 13 to 15 October covering hygiene, traceability, animal welfare and export documentation. Leading hands must make sure work instructions on the floor are the current version and that monitoring records are complete each day. QA will run a pre-audit walk on 8 October.
